Prakash Kothari MBBS, PhD - Author

Prof. Prakash Kothari is the Founder Professor of The department of Sexual Medicine at Seth G. S. Medical College and K.E.M. Hospital, Mumbai, India. He is a medical graduate, was awarded a PhD in 1981. Dr. Kothari is the Founder President of the Indian Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists [IASECT]. He presided over the 7th World Congress of Sexology, 1985 and the 1st International Conference on Orgasm, 1991. He is the Founder Member of Advisory Committee, World Association for Sexual Heath (WAS)

He has authored a professional treatise for scientists “Orgasm: New Dimensions” and “Sex & You” for lay people. His original research on ‘Orgasm’ and ‘Vatsyayana and his treatise Kamasutra’ has outlined India on the world map. He is a columnist with several leading magazines and newspapers and has conducted workshops in sexual medicine for the medical and the para-medical fraternity, round the globe.

He is a collector of rare and beautiful erotica which includes wooden sculptures, ivory artifacts, terracotta figurines, contemporary and miniature paintings, philately erotica and even scrap art. 

The Asian Federation for Sexology honored him as ‘The Sexologist of Asia.’ The World Association for Sexology [W.A.S.] bestowed upon him the highest title of ‘Man of the Year’ followed by the highest award of ‘The W.A.S. Gold Medal’ for his outstanding contributions and achievements in the field of Sexology. He was awarded ‘Padma Shri’, the prestigious civilian honour, by the President of India in recognition of his significant contribution in the field of Sexual Medicine.
